Season planning for 2026 and 2027
Volleyball BC describes the main club season as January to May, with selection generally in November and December. Its website now links the 2027 competition calendar, administration handbook and age-category rules. Use those current documents rather than an older handbook. [1]
Build your club-specific calendar
Check Volleyball BC’s current competition calendar and signing policies, then confirm registration openings and tryout appointments with each club on your shortlist. Record the age group, date, year, gym, session time, fee and offer deadline. A schedule published by one club should not be treated as an appointment at another. [1]
Keep regional and club-specific planning details in your zone section. Browse all eight zones to find contacts. Confirm provisional dates directly before booking travel or paying a registration fee.
Early signing changes your options
The 2027 Volleyball BC parent guide describes early signing for returning 15U–18U athletes. Early-signed athletes cannot attend another club’s tryouts; signing does not itself guarantee playing time or a particular team. Confirm the current window and commitment terms before accepting. [3]
Ask: “Does this offer name the team and coach, or only a place somewhere in the club? What happens if the team does not form?” A reassuring conversation is not a substitute for clear written terms.
Your season checklist
- October: verify eligibility by birth date, shortlist clubs, request policies and record registration openings.
- November and December: attend permitted tryouts, track offers and deadlines, and compare the actual teams offered.
- Before the first practice: confirm schedule, travel, team communication and complaint contacts.
- January to May: review progress with your athlete and check the team’s actual championship commitments. Confirm Nationals separately if proposed.
Do not assume school grade establishes age eligibility, or that rules and substitution requirements are identical across age groups. Request the applicable 2027 rule before making a playing-time comparison.
